Trekking Through the Stars: An Evening with Robert Picardo (brought to you by Chasing Atlantis)
ThunderCon is proud to bring you an unique evening featuring Special Guest Robert Picardo. Robert is a keen astronomer, a 15 year member of the Planetary Society (founded by Carl Sagan and run by Bill Nye) and believes that 'science fiction dreams the dream and paves the way for real science to fulfill that dream'. He will be joined by Matt Cimone of the Trottier Observatory in BC, who is also known as producer of the documentary, Chasing Atlantis. Join us for a few hours of science, speculation and astronomy along with finger-food apps, fiddling, and conversation.
Where: Fort William Historical Park David Thompson Observatory When: Sat. Sept 23, 2017 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Cost: $50 (No tickets or wristbands will be needed: the space is extremely limited so your names will be on our Trekking with the Stars List.)
Trekking Through the Stars: An Evening with Robert Picardo
An Evening with Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager, The Planetary Society) and Matthew Cimone (Chasing Atlantis, Trottier Observatory) at Fort William Historical Park David Thompson Astronomical Observatory, Sept 23/2017, from 8:00 - 11:00. Meet and greet, short presentation of astronomy and the exploration of the stars. Finger food and cash bar will be available outside in the Observatory's heated courtyard (inside if inclement weather) to the tunes of a historic fiddler. Space is limited to 50 participants so book early!
In July 2011, when space enthusiasts travelled the work to witness the epic closure of the space shuttle era, Matt Cimone began a three-year journey of discovering acceptance, belonging and himself. Joined by director and long-time friend Paul Muzzin, they endeavour to connect with sci-fi enthusiasts, pop culture icons and current/former space workers in an attempt to resuscitate a dream that is so far out that it may as well be in space!
